“We don’t need anybody to save us”

The people of Gire Spi protested the Turkish state threats against Northern and Eastern Syrian territories and said Erdogan is looking to displace the peoples of the region.

The people of Gire Spi protested Erdogan’s comments that he will “save Kurds and Arabs” and said they don’t need saving as they already live in safety and the security in their region is not found anywhere else in Syria.

Turkmen Xelil Ebdulkerim from Gire Spi voiced his protest against Erdogan: “You are the one who represents terrorism. You brought terrorism to our lands, and now you say you will save us!”

Ebdulkerim said they as the peoples of the region have lived together for centuries and won’t allow anybody to meddle in the domestic affairs of their region, stressing that they live in peace and safety and don’t need any saving from anybody.

Xelil Ebdulkerim pointed out that the safety in their region is not found anywhere else in Syria.

Arab Hisen El-Shihade said: “Erdogan has no right to speak about terrorism because he has been supporting terror in Syria. The peoples of the region are in solidarity. Erdogan can’t pit the people against each other.”

“Keep your terrorism away from us, we live with goodness and beauty,” said Shihade and added: “We haven’t forgotten how Turkey brought terrorism to the region and what they put the peoples of Syria through.”

Shihade mentioned the Turkish state occupation of Afrin and continued: “How did they treat the people when they attacked Afrin? They forced people to migrate, they robbed their homes and property, they massacred people. Even olive trees were not safe from Erdogan.”

Mistefa Mihemed from Gire Spi voiced his protest: “The SDF is made up of the youth of this people. If Erdogan makes them out to be terrorists, then he is making the people out to be terrorists as well. He entered Afrin using terrorism as an excuse, but now children and the elderly are being killed in Afrin, there is looting everywhere. Invasion and terrorism is Turkey’s true purpose.”

Mihemed concluded with: “We live in safety in Northern and Eastern Syria, and that is why we face threats against our region. The Turkish state doesn’t want us living in peace.”
