Women in Hesekê speak out for Leyla Güven

Women in Hesekê called on the international community to support HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven and her comrades on hunger strike.

Leyla Güven has been on hunger strike for 89 days demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Her health is quickly deteriorating and women said that Leyla’s demand is the people’s demand.

Condemning the isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Leyla Boncax told ANHA: “We are voicing Leyla’s demand to end isolation. We want the world to listen to her.”

Xalise Ehmed said “The health of the hunger strikers is worsening by the day. But the international authorities are still silent. The international community should now open up its eyes and see what is happening. They should move to ensure the end of isolation.”

Shirin Heme said that they would keep up Leyla Güven's struggle and added: “Women have a strong will and we believe in our cause. So we will not take a single step back.”
