SDF statement on attacks targeting Deir Hafir

The SDF said that the attacks carried out by armed groups affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government against the city of Deir Hafir are aimed at undermining regional security.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Press Center issued a statement denouncing new violations by Damascus Government militants following the September Massacre in Deir Hafir.

The statement said: "The militants of the Damascus government continue to escalate their assaults and violations in the regions of northern and eastern Syria, targeting our fighters and innocent civilians in an attempt to destabilize the security and stability of the area.

In the early morning hours today, their suicide drone launched an attack on a military vehicle in the vicinity of Deir Hafir, resulting in minor injuries to three of our fighters. In the evening, one of their armed drones targeted an Internal Security Forces patrol while it was performing its duties in protecting civilians, leading to the wounding of four fighters."

The statement added that "simultaneously, residential neighborhoods in the area are being subjected to random artillery shelling, which poses a direct threat to the lives of civilians and aims to spread panic among the population.

It is worth noting that on September 20th of last month, the militants of the Damascus government committed a massacre in Deir Hafir, which led to the martyrdom of eight civilians, including children and women, due to their indiscriminate shelling of civilians' homes."

The statement continued: "These repeated attacks clearly expose the efforts of the Damascus government's militants to create chaos and destabilize northern and eastern Syria, attempting to undermine the state of safety and order experienced by the people of the region. The Syrian Democratic Forces affirm that they will continue their duty to protect our people and confront all attempts to undermine the security and stability of the region."
