TEV-DEM Xelil visited South Kurdistan and proposed the Kurdish National Congress to be held in Rojava
TEV-DEM Executive Board co-chair, Aldar Xelil, responded to some questions by ANHA news agency about his visit to South Kurdistan and his meeting with Hemid Derbendi, responsible of Rojava for the Kurdistan Region Presidency.
Stating that the Kurdish people once again proved their leadership in the democratic revolution in Syria, Xelil said: “The establishment of a democratic Syria is the common task of all the Syrian people.
We continue our struggle for Kurds as well as other issues related to the future of Syria. The aim of this struggle - said Xelil - is the solution of the complicated situation of Syria and the development of a democratic project. The goal of our project is solving the complex Syrian situation while at the same time working for the national unity of Kurds. In fact, the unity of the Kurdish people is one of our most important targets”.
Kurdish National Unity is our target
Aldar Xelil pointed out that some Kurdish parties unfortunately do not serve the interests of Kurds and they actually have relations with parties of the so called Syrian opposition.
Pointing out that TEV-DEM has offered Kurdish parties to hold the Kurdistan National Congress in Rojava, Xelil said: “Our aim is to throw the basis for the Kurdistan National Congress, so that we can achieve Kurdish national unity beyond party contradictions”.
Talking about the visit to South Kurdistan, Xelil said that TEV-DEM is working for the establishment of Kurdish unity in Rojava and solving any problems which may emerge. He added: “The meeting we had with Derbedi was positive. They expressed their support for the initiative of TEV-DEM and also expressed that these negotiations will have an impact on the parties that have acted together with the Turkish state in the occupation of Afrin. It is not possible for them to have an alliance with those parties. They have shown that they betrayed their people once they supported the Turkish state in the occupation of Afrin”.
As to the allegations published in some media close to the KDP about an alliance between TEV-DEM and ENKS, Xelil said: “We have no knowledge of any alliance between these two organisations. The meeting we had was organised in order to assess the situation of the Kurdish people, not for the formation of alliances as alleged by some media close to the KDP”.
