Turkey closes four border crossings, suspends flights from Iran

Four people suspected to have been infected with the coronavirus have been taken under treatment at hospitals in Van so far.

The coronavirus Covid-19 has claimed the lives of 8 people in Iran while a total of 43 cases have been confirmed in the country so far. Schools and universities have been closed in 14 regions in the country, while all art and cinema events have been cancelled until the end of the week.

Amid the increasing threat of Coronavirus in bordering Iran, Turkey has closed the border crossings in Dilucu, Gürbulak, Esendere and Kapıköy areas on Sunday.

Turkey has also suspended all flights from Iran temporarily and unilaterally starting from 20.00 this evening.

Four people suspected to have been infected with the coronavirus have been taken under treatment at hospitals in Van so far; 3 of them are kept under observation in intensive care unit. They are people who arrived in Van from Iran. Two of those in intensive care are said to be brothers.

Medical masks have witnessed a boom in sales in Van while at the border entrance and exit points thermal machines have been located.
