Ilham Ehmed: “There can be no solution without reconciliation”

MSD Co-chair Ilham Ehmed stated that international forces will offer the Turkish state support to withdraw from Afrin.

Democratic Syrian Council (MSD) Co-chair Ilham Ehmed spoke to ANHA on the military and political developments in Syria in general.

SYRIAN REGIME ATTACKS AGAINST THE SDF TARGET THE DEMOCRATIC NATION PROJECT

Ilham Ehmed said the Syrian regime forces attacking SDF fighters’ positions is to target the Democratic Nation project and continued: “The attacks have been made to coincide with the operations Syrian Democratic Forces will launch against ISIS gangs in the east of the Euphrates River.”

Ehmed said the attacks have been retaliated, but such attacks should not continue.

“RUSSIA, TURKEY AND IRAN SHOULD RETURN FROM THE GENEVA LINE”

On the policies for the region, Ilham said: “The mission of the Coalition is unclear. Nobody knows what the outcome will be. Turkey, Russia and Iran’s meeting in Geneva should be able to pose a solution to the crisis in Syria, if not, the Syrian crisis will continue.”

On the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu’s comments that they have come to an agreement with the US regarding Manbij, Ehmed said: “It is always possible in a crisis to have a surprise emerge, but it would be a great mistake for the US to agree with Turkey over Manbij.”

“JAYSH AL ISLAM GOING TO RAQQA IS A DEEP CRISIS”

Ilham Ehmed said that the MSD doesn’t accept the Jaysh Al Islam group in the Saudi Arabian branch going to Raqqa and added: “Them not accepting the administration and the constituents in the region will cause a lack of diversity and deepen the crisis.”

“INTERNATIONAL FORCES MADE A PROMISE FOR AFRIN”

Ilham Ehmed also pointed out the meetings they have had with international forces regarding Afrin and said Afrin has been a fundamental topic in all meetings: “The international forces constantly say they will pressure Turkey to withdraw from Afrin. We are demanding that a security force under the international forces should oversee the return of the people.”

“THERE CAN BE NO SOLUTION WITHOUT RECONCILIATION”

MSD Co-chair Ilham Ehmed also pointed out how the path to a solution to issues in Syria can be achieved: “If no projects for a solution are developed, the war will deepen. If parties can’t find a path to reconciliation, a solution will not develop.”
