Syrian opposition: We will fight against Turkish invasion!

Liwa Simal Demokratik (Democratic Battalion of the North) commander Abu Omar Idlibi called Turkey “a terrorist state” and said that they won’t allow the invasion of Idlib, Afrin and Shehba.

Turkish army crossed the border near Idlib and invaded three positions on Friday. The move raised tensions between the Turkish supported groups and the Syrian opposition.

A commander of Liwa Simal group, Abu Omar, rejected the Astana Agreement between Syrian regime, Turkey and Russia that allowed Turkish invasion.

“Turkey says that its move is to guarantee its national security. But we are aware of the situation and Turkey’s objectives. All throughout history Turkey had been an invasive power and we know that they want to take a share of Syria.”

WE WILL FIGHT AGAINST TURKISH INVASION

Abu Omar pointed out that Turkey entered Idlib under an agreement with Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Syrian regime and added: “Turkey ordered Jabhat Al-Nusra to stop fighting with the Syrian regime under any circumstances. We saw that Jabhat Al-Nusra is an anti-revolutionary organization. Today it’s openly working against the revolution. We are not surprised because it was Turkey who inserted Jabhat Al-Nusra, Ahrar Al-Sham and ISIS to Idlib region. They did not come here from Afghanistan or from Tunis with a magic wand. They were sent to Turkey and then transferred to Syria.

Turkey is a terrorist state and we will never allow the invasion of Idlib, Afrin and Syria. We reject Astana agreement and the invasion. We, as people of Syria are ready to fight against invasive Turkish state or the regime.”

Liwa Simal Demokratik (Democratic Battalion of the North) group which was formed at the beginning of the uprising against Assad regime. The group had to leave Idlib in 2014 after Turkish supported Al-Nusra, Ahrar Al-Sham and Feylak Sham groups’ attacks.
