TEV-DEM’s Erebo: We want to build a new democratic Syria

In a public meeting in Heseke, TEV-DEM said war could end in Idlib.

A public meeting was held by the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) in Heseke to assess developments in the region.

The meeting, held in the garden of Seyf al-Dewle school in Nasra neighborhood, was attended by dozens of representatives of civil society organizations as well as citizens.

After a minute’s silence, co-chair of Cizre Canton Council, Heyfa Erebo delivered the opening speech.

Erebo underlined that despite what some circles are saying, the war in Syria is still going on. Erebo added that many foreign forces have been involved in Syria's internal affairs and are responsible for part of the spilled blood.

Talking about the meeting between the Syrian Democratic Council (MSD) and representatives of the Syrian regime, Erebo said that the meeting aimed at finding a solution to the Syrian crisis and creating a road map for a democratic, pluralist and decentralized Syria.

Commenting on the decision to set up a committee representing both sides taken at the meeting in Damascus, Erebo said that the parties are talking to ensure a future to the country.

Recalling that the MSD is the political umbrella organisation and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) the military force, Erebo said all cantons and democratic autonomous regions in Northern Syria are working together for a common administration. She added: "The executives that we have elected and will be assigned to the talks will represent all Northern Syrian sections”.

Erebo said that the Syrian regime and Russia are preparing a military operation against Idlib, which is under the occupation of the Turkish-state supported mercenaries.

"Syria's crisis and war can actually end with Idlib”, said Ebdo.

Ending the remarks at the meeting, Erebo said that Rojava-Northern Syrian Revolution aims at building a democratic and decentralized Syria where all parties are represented and not at dividing the country and replacing the government.
