Thousands rally for Öcalan in Kobanê

Thousands joined a march for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Kobanê.

A march was held in Kobanê for the freedom of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Kobanê on Sunday. Thousands of civilians joined the march in addition to representatives of political institutions and administrators including Democratic Federation of Northern Syria Executive member Ferhad Dêrik, Kobanê Canton Assembly Co-presidents Merwa Dirêyî and Mustefa Êto.

After gathering at Free Women’s Square, demonstrators marched to Martyr Egîd Square, carrying images of Öcalan and flags of TEV-DEM (Movement for a Democratic Society) and PYD (Democratic Union Party), and chanting slogans demanding freedom for Öcalan.

Following a minute’s silence at Martyr Egîd Square, Democratic Federation of Northern Syria Executive member Ferhad Dêrik and TEV-DEM Assembly Co-chair Eyşe Efendî held a speech.

Speakers remarked that the freedom struggle of peoples in Northern Syria based on the philosophy of Öcalan who –they said- aspired a free and democratic life for peoples and gave a struggle to this end.

Speakers also called attention to the attacks against the Kurdish people and called for mobilization.
