SDF rescued two thousand civilians from ISIS in Deir ez-Zor

As part of the Operation Cizire Storm campaign’s final phase to defeat terror, SDF fighters have rescued two thousand more civilians whom ISIS used as human shields in al-Sousse town.

YPG-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are making further advances against ISIS in the ongoing Operation Cizire Storm in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor province.

As many as two thousand civilians, mainly women and children, have been rescued by SDF forces in the ISIS-occupied al-Sousse town, and transferred to liberated areas under SDF control.

Some of the rescued civilians had suffered injuries as mines planted by ISIS exploded while they fled. The ill and injured civilians were taken to healthcare centers by the SDF fighters.

The rescued civilians were settled in the IDP camp in Hawl town of Heseke Canton, and their needs were met.

The civilians stated that they had no food for 5 days. According to them, ISIS mercenaries in al-Sousse, Baghouz and al-Shafayaa regions are mostly foreign nationals and are planting mines in the houses of the local people.

SDF fighters partaking in the campaign had recently opened a security corridor to save the civilians from ISIS captivity.
