The DEM party objected to the Provincial Election Council decision to rerun the elections in Halfeti.
The People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM) presented its objections to the rerun of the elections in Halfeti (Xelfeti), in the province of Urfa, to the Supreme Electoral Board (YSK).
The application made by the DEM Party noted that there were no irregularities in the elections won by DEM. Attention was drawn to the irregularities committed by AKP members in the rural neighborhood of Qunefirik (Hilallı).
The Urfa Provincial Election Council had annulled the election in the Halfeti district and called for a rerun of the elections on 2 June. This decision follows an appeal by the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), citing irregularities in the use of unauthorized votes and the counting of invalid votes as the basis for their 2 April petition.
In response to the annulment, the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party, which had won the Halfeti district, issued a statement condemning the decision. The DEM Party criticized the election board, accusing it of being a tool for the AKP and attempting to overturn the will of the people. The party called for respect for the democratic decision of the people.
