Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah General Assembly made a statement in front of the Yazidis House in Sheikh Maqsoud neighbourhood regarding the recent developments.
The co-chairs and executives of the Assembly, members of civil organisations and political parties also attended the press briefing.
Speaking here, Assembly member Menan Cafer stated that the Damascus government, which refuses dialogue and does not accept other cultures, is responsible for the current crisis.
The statement remarked that the people in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighbourhoods continue to organise themselves and added: “We are trying to build a multi-faceted democratic Syria with the participation of all components in the two neighbourhoods, without racial discrimination.”
The statement said: “Some parties affiliated with the occupying Turkish state, especially the partners of the so-called opposition, betrayers and ENKS, continue their policy of evacuating neighbourhoods with untrue claims. They want to move the people towards Afrin without international guarantees. We call on our people to stay in their neighbourhoods and not to be fooled by these claims.”
The Assembly called on the United Nations (UN) to fulfil its responsibility to deliver basic needs to the people, emphasising that, “We are here until we build a democratic Syria with our government and our people.”
