Syrian Women's Council opens office in Damascus

The Syrian Women's Council announced that it has officially opened its office in Damascus.

Syrian Women's Council Cizîr office executive, Muna Yûsif, told ANHA news agency that the council has been trying to open offices in all cities of Syria since 2017. "During the oppressive Baath regime, we did not have offices in Damascus, but there was a ready ground. Our representatives in Damascus were carrying out their work on behalf of the council."

Yûsif said that the Syrian Women's Council sent a diplomatic delegation consisting of women to Damascus on behalf of the council to meet with Ayşe El Dibis, the interim government's women's affairs officer, and added: "We held many meetings and consultations to open an office in Damascus and prepared the necessary conditions for it. On Monday, we finally held the official opening of our office in Damascus."

Yûsif pointed out that the Syrian Women's Council wants to further develop its successful experiences in Northern and Eastern Syria by bringing them to Damascus, and added: "Women need to be represented in all institutions, especially the Constitutional Committee, and in all areas of life." The purpose of opening the office, continued Yûsif is "to strengthen dialogues among women and to bring women's unity to life in Northern and Eastern Syria, Suwayda, Jarabulus, Idlib and all other cities."
