Festival in the shadow of a military operation

The seventh Berxbir (Sheep Shearing) Festival began in Beytüssebap district of Þýrnak in the shadow of a military operation.

Sheep Shearing Festival, organized by Beytüþþebap Municipality at Laleþ Plateau of Kato Mountain, started early this year, While thousands of people flocked to the festival area yesterday evening, vehicles were searched high and low at a control point by the units of Beytüþþebap Gendarmerie Station. Hundreds of tents were put up in the festival area which has turned into a tent city with portable toilets, mini markets, grocery stores, restaurants, barbershops and tea shops. While activities continued along the night, people at the festival area chanted often slogans and burnt fireworks during the celebration.

Hundreds of young people kept guard and put up control points to ensure the security of the area, drew a Democratic Confederalism flag with yellow, red and green colors and wrote the names of PKK and HPG on the rocks in the area. While hundreds of people climbed to the summit of Kato Mountain to watch the sunrise, the military operations launched in the area continue.
