Patrice Franceschi has a close acquaintance with the Kurds with whom he has contacts since 1990’s. The French writer who went to the South Kurdistan city of Zakho, crossing the Turkish border illegally in 90's, has also crossed into Rojava recently tells in his book 'To Die For Kobanê' tells about a battle field watched from afar and televisions.
The book contains the portraits of the anonymous people who have become heroes during the battle, as well as dialogues with those who define the true meaning of war and have manifested an incredible courage without losing human values.
Describing the Kurdish women fighters as Jeanne d’Arcs of the 21th century, the writer at the same time questions the French society, adopting an attitude of his own.
Recalling the Europeans who have joined the ISIS and fought Kurds, Franceschi says: "This extraordinary mental subversion which even terrorizes the most radical Muslims will need to be understood precisely one day."
Regarding the victory of Kurds and the liberation of Kobanê, the French writer says; "This is at the same the victory of civil law against sharia."
In its introduction of the 144 page book, Equateurs Publishing House describes the Kobanê resistance as "a battle that concerns all of us".
