The political prisoners in Siirt Prison have sent 2 boxes of books to the Kader Ortakaya Library and Arin Mirkan Museum in the border village of Miseynter in Suruç, where resistance vigils have been held since the beginning of the Kobane resistance.

The interest and support in the Library and the Museum, which were built in old houses renovated for that purpose in Miseynter, is increasing by the day. The library and the museum take their names from two women who lost their lives during the Kobane resistance. While work on the interior design of the museum and the library continues, meaningful support has come from political prisoners in Siirt. They sent 2 boxes of books to salute the memories of Kader Ortakaya and Arin Mirkan as well as the work for the library and the museum.

The prisoners also sent a letter with the books, saying that the library and the museum will play an important role in passing on the Kobanê resistance to future generations, and thanking all those who have worked in building these symbolic places.

The letter of the prisoners stressed the importance of unity among the Kurds and stressed the great enthusiasm they had experienced with the Kobanê resistance. “We believe that the Kobanê resistance will lead to the liberation of the whole of Kurdistan and national unity among the Kurds. We have been more than happy to hear about the museum and the library that will keep the names of Kader Ortakaya and Arin Mirkan alive. We congratulate and salute all the comrades who have worked for this”, said the prisoners, adding that they wanted to support the initiative by sending books.

The prisoners also stressed in their letter that they hope that the library and the museum contribute to Kurdish studies.
