Rock-A Festival in Foça
Rock-A Festival Collective organized a three days of alternative rock in Foça (Izmir). Rock-A will begin today, Friday, and last until Sunday. Dozens of bands are expected to attend the festival, which will be at Acar Camping where people can also camp with their tents.
In the statement about the festival, called "the system feeds on you!", the organizers underlined how "Power and companies that raving for the profit and the need for more energy are competing with each other about to destroy the nature as if they are the master of it".
The statement added that "Companies that are marketing the project with the gilty lies about employment and development, want us to thank them. They make this claim about the need of more energy at every opportunity as an unquestionable fact. “Energy demand” is one of the biggest lies which is used by capitalism and the power on their side in almost 200 years. Because we are not the energy demanders in fact. Capital who have to produce more products which are not needed actually, needs energy to more profit. To justify it, the created CONSUMPTION CULTURE is provided to penetrate every moment of the life by using all kinds of communication devices and opportunities".
In fact, the statement continued "more energy is nothing more than we consume and nothing more than to leave more trash to nature. Therefore we are now questioning the fact why we need more energy -regardless “clean” or dirty- instead of where we get the energy. With our full energy of life we are standing in front of companies willing to build new thermal, nuclear or hydroelectric power stations in every corner of the land we live in".
That's why, the organizers say "“no” to depredation of the nature to keep on the system with this lack of justice and freedom" and invite all people who share this resistance to meet at Rock-A for the sixth times.
