Youth Film Festival kicked off in Amed
Following the Altın Koza and Cannes Film Festivals, Dengê Bavê Min (Voice of my Father) was shown at the 3rd International Youth Film Festival in Amed.
The festival from 25 to 28 March is being organized in the main Kurdish city Amed with the slogan “Peace”. Ertuğrul Kürkçü, Mersin deputy for the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), is also joining the film festival where various Kurdish and Turkish music bands are taking the stage to sing for peace.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kürkçü called attention to the importance of the message Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan gave in Newroz on 21 March and remarked that the people of Kurdistan and Turkish revolutionaries have been giving a struggle together for the creation of a new environment in the country. “We are now making our way by turning our back on war and our face on peace”, said Kürkçü and pointed out that the peace process between the Kurdish leader and the Turkish state is the most significant event of the last 40 years.
Kürkçü stated that the struggle in Kurdistan would spread to Turkey and the Middle East.
