Activists in Europe celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the PKK

The establishment of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (Partiya Karkerên Kurdistanê, PKK), 42 years ago, was celebrated in dozens of places in Europe.

The establishment of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (Partiya Karkerên Kurdistanê, PKK), 42 years ago, was celebrated in dozens of places in Europe. Due to the pandemic conditions, there were only decentralized activities with a limited number of participants.

There were demonstrations, rallies and events and in some places there were celebrations with bonfires and fireworks. In many other places people commemorated the anniversary with banners and posters. In Germany in particular, the criminalization of the Kurdish movement was condemned and the lifting of the PKK ban issued 27 years ago was called for.

STRASBOURG

The anniversary of the founding of the PKK was celebrated in Strasbourg, with a demonstration organised by Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger and TEKO-JIN.

MONTPELLIER

The march organized by DKTM and Delal Amed Women's Commune started in Peyrou Pitot Park and continued until Comedie Square. A poster of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and the flag of the PKK were carried throughout the march.

VILLIERS LE BEL

Tevgera Ciwanên Şoreşger and Jinên Ciwan ên Têkoşer organised a march in Villiers Le Bel, in Paris. 

BORDEAUX

Young activists took the lead in the action organised in Bordeaux.

STUTTGART

An action took place in Stuttgart as well to commemorate the 42nd anniversary of the establishment of the PKK.

GENEVA

Activists demonstrated in front of the UN in Geneva to demand status for Shengal and celebrate the 42nd anniversary of the establishment of the PKK. 

ZURICH

Young activists also demonstrated in Zurich.
