KCDK-E calls on people attent today's demonstration in Lausanne
The Kurdish European umbrella organization KCDK-E called on people to take part in a demonstration today in Lausanne to mark the 101st anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne.
The Kurdish European umbrella organization KCDK-E called on people to take part in a demonstration today in Lausanne to mark the 101st anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne.
Today, a demonstration will take place in Lausanne (1 pm at Place des Pionnières)
to mark the 101st anniversary of the Treaty Lausanne, which divided Kurdistan. The treaty was signed in the Swiss city on 24 July 1923. The Kurdish European umbrella organization KCDK-E called for participation in the protest.
(1 p.m. at Place des Pionnières)
The KCDK-E wrote: "The Treaty of Lausanne signed between Great Britain, France and Turkey represented a historical turning point. This treaty created the formal basis for the genocide against Kurds. This international intervention brought the Kurdish people and the entire Middle East in a process of wars that remains inextricable to this day. It formalized the founding of the Republic of Turkey and established a monistic nation state with the help of international powers. Turkey committed genocides during its more than 100-year history, backed by world powers."
The statement added: "Since its establishment, the Turkish state has enforced the monistic doctrine of a single nation by carrying out a total attack on everything that is free, autonomous and deviates from the Turkish identity. With this doctrine, it tried to implement a genocide based on a deep assimilation policy. After the Treaty of Lausanne, instead of all the promises made to the Kurdish people and their representatives, a concept of denial and annihilation was put into practice. The Kurdish identity was denied and the Kurdish population was subjected to genocide through assimilation."
Lausanne means the formalization of the anti-Kurdish genocide
The statement continued: "With the Turkish Constitution of 1924, the plan to deny and annihilate the Kurdish people was implemented. This policy continued to the present day. The project of denial and annihilation replaced the false promises made on the way to the Lausanne Agreement. Kurdistan became a place of occupation and massacres.
The revolts and uprisings organized by Kurdish intellectuals and social forces in the face of this genocide were suppressed by plots and massacres. The Kurdish people have not given up and have not tired of fighting against this annihilation and making every necessary sacrifice in this struggle. The uprisings have continued from 1925 to the present day and will continue until the Kurdish people are free."
The statement underlined that "the Turkish state has dropped its mask and, together with international powers, has implemented new plans to criminalize the Kurdish people's just and legitimate liberation struggle. This is the reason why Rêber Apo [Abdullah Öcalan] is imprisoned and isolated in the torture and isolation prison on Imrali as part of an international plot. The aim of the occupation and annexation attacks, the denial of the Kurdish reality and the genocide carried out jointly with Kurdish collaborators in all parts of Kurdistan is obvious."
The statement said that "the Kurdish people have given thousands of martyrs and are not ready to recognize this treaty, on the basis of which genocide has been practiced for 101 years. They condemn the annexations by the Turkish occupation forces in the face of world opinion. The liberation struggle of the Kurdish people has gained the strength to overturn the Treaty of Lausanne in its 101st year. As KCDK-E, we call on our people to participate in the demonstration on July 27th on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne in the spirit of national unity."
