Emine Osê, of the Autonomous Administration deputy co-chairmaship said that the Turkish state attacked not only the areas of North East Syria but the achievements of all Kurdistan and Kurdish people. “The area of North East Syria is going through a very sensitive and historical process. On the one hand, there are signs of a political solution and we need to ask what will be the role of autonomous administration here. On the other hand, the occupation attacks of the Turkish state continue to increase. The Turkish state has carried out many invasion attacks in the past years. Many areas of Syria were occupied such as Afrin, Ezaz, Bab and most recently Grê Sipî and Serêkaniyê.”
Turkey has changed its way of attacking North East Syria
Osê added: “The Turkish state has changed its attack style in this recent period. Of course, it attacks not only North and East Syria, but the entire Kurdistan. It attacks all areas where the hopes of freedom of the Kurdish people, led by the freedom struggle, have developed. It uses all attack methods to prevent the Kurdish people from gaining status. However, in the media defense areas, in Heftanin, the resistance of freedom fighters is not less."
Osê said that the Turkish state invaded the areas first and settled its mercenaries in the occupied territories. “The mercenaries posed a constant threat to the region, and imposed inhumane practices against the people every day in the occupied areas.”
Pointing out that hundreds of crimes have been committed, such as arrest, torture, kidnapping, rape, confiscation of people's homes and changing the demography, Osê said: "All these have been documented and shared with the world public. However, despite all these, international human rights bodies have not put forward a serious attitude against the Turkish state. The voices are very weak, sometimes they condemn, sometimes they actually condone.”
Osê added: “Because of this stance by the international powers, the Turkish state continues to attack, getting strength from this sort of green light. After the invasion of Serêkaniyê and Gre Sipî, the Turkish state changed its style of attack. The attacks of Kobanê and Ebu Sira caused the killing of civilians but no reaction was seen from the international community.
Turkey tries to divide peoples
The Turkish state hits with air strikes but also with all kinds of other methods to empty the autonomous administration's project. And then of course it also tries to cause strife between the peoples in order to develop instability in the region and to put the peoples against each other. The Turkish state is trying to put peoples such as Arabs, Kurds and Assyrians, who live together under the Autonomous Administration system, against each other."
Emine Osê pointed out that the Turkish state has been trying to get results through three dirty plans in the region in the last period and continued: "As I said, Turkey uses small attacks to murder citizens, to spy them and to cause strife among the peoples. It is trying to get results by using women and young people. The latest events in Deir Ez-zor are also related to this. We receive very different information about these events.”
Osê added: “They know that the structure of the region is tribal. If they succeed in getting the tribes here to revolt and the people of the region to rebel against the autonomous administration, then they can destroy the legitimacy of the autonomous administration. For this reason, tribal sheikhs were killed. With these attacks, they are trying to create the following perception in the people: The Autonomous Administration cannot serve you, cannot govern you, internal forces cannot protect you. SDF dominates the region but cannot protect you. These are their plans.
In this sense, our people living in the autonomous administration area should be sensitive. It should take measures against such provocations. They should take care of their young people. Both youth organizations and families should protect young people. This task falls to all youth organizations and families. All our people in the region should know that Turkey wants to destabilize the region and develop the fragmentation among the peoples. All institutions should act jointly against the dirty policies in the region."
Emine Osê said that measures were taken in the first wave of the coronavirus and that they protected the people in line with these measures, but that a crisis was also experienced due to the economic distress in the region.
“We protected our people, but we know that the people also need to work. The situation of the region and the people is obvious; the means of the people are limited. So we had to keep the bans a little loose.
As I said, we took some precautions in the first wave. We were actually expecting such a situation. Because the Turkish state, was actually making an effort to infect one of the occupied areas. The Syrian regime often used the Qamishlo airport frustrating the measures taken by the autonomous administration. Therefore, the virus arrived to our territory from outside.”
15 people died of coronavirus
Stating that health teams are at work in all areas, Osê said: "In some areas, our backup teams are trained and prepared. The autonomous administration took care of all their basic needs. Despite all this, there are 219 cases so far. Of course, precautions have been taken. 15 people have died. We work for better opportunities with all our healthcare teams, but there is also this reality: This disease is not just something that will last a day or two.
In this sense, our people should learn to live their life with this disease. Some things must now become a culture in the region. For example, cleaning, little movement and use of masks are the most basic measures required to protect ourselves against the virus. Some of our circles also need to convince themselves of the seriousness of this disease. All our institutions, especially our press institutions, should work to bring this awareness to our people.
Our people do not pay much attention to this. Maybe now there is no such a serious situation. However, this does not mean that the situation will not get worse. In this sense, all our institutions, including our administration, must fight against this and have a common planning and precaution plan to raise awareness of the public.”
