Journalist Sadık Topaloğlu and his friend Mehmet Savaş, who were taken into custody in Istanbul on July 10, were sent to prison.
Topaloğlu and his friend Savaş were taken to the Istanbul Provincial Police Department. While he was being held at the police station, the police also raided Topaloğlu's residence in Istanbul, and seized his computer.
A confidentiality order was imposed on the file of Topaloğlu, who was kept at the police station for 4 days.
Topaloğlu and his friend Savaş were referred to the courthouse on Saturday after their statements to the police. Topaloğlu was asked about the allegations in a case in which he was previously tried. After giving their statements to the prosecutor's office, Topaloğlu and Savaş were referred to the court with a request for arrest on the grounds of "being members of a terrorist organization".
The court accepted the request and sent the two men to Metris Prison.
