Abdullah Öcalan sent a message through the DEM party delegation, saying: "A new contract is needed on the basis of brotherhood law".
Pervin Buldan and Faik Özgür Erol, members of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Imrali Delegation, met with Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali today. After the meeting, the delegation issued a statement.
The delegation shared the following message from Öcalan:
"I deeply regret not having been able to talk with Sırrı Süreyya Önder one last time. He holds a cherished place in my memory. His legacy must be preserved. He was a man of wisdom for Turkey, and we shall not allow his absence to be felt.
A new contract is needed based on the law of brotherhood. What we are doing represents a major paradigm shift. The nature of the Turkish-Kurdish relationship is fundamentally different; what has been broken is the bond of brotherhood.
Brothers may quarrel, but they are incomplete without one another. We are systematically clearing the traps and landmines that have undermined this relationship; we are repairing the damaged roads and bridges.
Through our delegation, I send my thanks to the intellectuals, in particular to Alain Badiou and Slavoj Žižek, who have conveyed their messages, letters, and expressions of support and solidarity to me and the peace and brotherhood process we have developed. I hope we can meet in joint internationalist and socialist efforts.
