11 more prisoners join indefinite-irreversible hunger strike

The prison hunger strikes across Turkey have been joined by 5 more inmates in Antalya L Type Closed Prison and 6 others in Balıkesir Prison.

Two female prisoners, Gurbet Öztürk and Hacire Çay, and three male prisoners in Antalya L Type Closed Prison have announced starting an indefinite-irreversible hunger strike as of March 30. The female prisoners joining the hunger strike are reported to have been exiled from Amed to Antalya recently.

6 other prisoners in Balıkesir Prison announced through their families that they have launched an indefinite-irreversible hunger strike starting from today.
In the meantime, 15 prisoners on hunger strike in Van Prison have been transferred to Bandırma Prison. These prisoners were assaulted by guards and subjected to strip search when they arrived in Bandırma Prison.

The prison hunger strikes continue in;

- Şakran Prison T2 Section since February 15, joined by 8 inmates,

- Şakran Prison T3 Section since February 15, joined by 5 inmates,

- Şakran Prison Women's Section since February 22, joined by 5 inmates,

- Sincan Prison Women's Section since February 23, joined by 7 inmates,

- Şakran Prison T4 Section since March 1, joined by 8 inmates,

- Tekirdağ Prison T1 Section March 8, joined by 10 inmates,

- Tarsus Prison Women's Section since March 15, joined by 5 inmates

- Şakran Prison T4 Section since March 22, joined by 7 inmates,

- Bolu F Type Prison since March 27, joined by 10 inmates,

- Hatay T Type Prison since April 1, joined by 11 inmates.
