The Şenyaşar family called on everyone to join them on Wednesday, as the Justice Vigil marks its first year.
The Justice Vigil carried out by the Şenyaşar family has reached day 355. The vigil was launched on 9 March 2021 by Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons as a result of the attack carried out by AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız's bodyguards and relatives, in Suruç, province of Urfa, on 14 June 2018.
The vigil has been carried out since then in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit, who survived the attack.
As every weekend, the family continued the vigil at their home in Suruç, as the Urfa courthouse was closed.
Next Wednesday, 9 March, the Justice Vigil will have completed its first year. The Şenyaşar family shared a video message on their Twitter account to mark the occasion.
The video includes sections of the many days of vigil as well as the attack on the Şenyaşar family's workplace in 2018.
The video ends with the following call: “We were two people when we started this vigil here, now our case has turned into a public lawsuit. Come and join us for the Justice Vigil on Wednesday, 9 March. This vigil will go down in history. We welcome everyone who wants to witness history in front of the courthouse.”
The Şenyaşar family also shared the following message: “The whole world heard the cry of the mother at the Urfa Courthouse gate. The economy will not improve, good days will not come without justice and if human rights are not given importance.”
