The Şenyaşar family, on a vigil for justice for eight months for their family members who were murdered in Urfa province, said that laws do not work at Urfa courthouse.
The Justice Vigil which was launched on March 9 in front of the courthouse in Urfa by Emine Şenyaşar, who lost her husband and two sons in an armed attack in Suruç district of Urfa on 14 June 2018 that involved the bodyguards and relatives of AKP Deputy İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar who was injured in the same attack, marks its 266th day.
The family started today’s vigil in the area called “Şenyaşar Family Justice Corner”.
Ferit Şenyaşar remarked that they are continuing their vigil under “oppression” and noted that their Justice Vigil is about to enter its 9th month. “We have two demands. However, we could not find any state officials to deal with us for 9 months. Legally, we have not made any progress,” he said.
“A massacre took place in public, but some dark forces within the government exercise control over all institutions in Urfa. State laws are not enforced. These forces pursue their own interests. The lawmaker from the ruling party who was involved in the massacre against my family is protected, which is why laws do not work in Urfa,” Ferit Şenyaşar continued.
“The weather is getting colder day by day. We are determined to continue our vigil until justice is secured. My mother's health problems are known by public,” he added.
“There is a bloody and dark structure within the AKP in Urfa province. This structure, which is controlled by the lawmaker in question, undermines the state institutions in Urfa and implements its own laws. Everyone is watching it. Our vigil for justice is on its 266th day,” the family wrote on their Twitter account.
