Another Kurdish activist executed in Iran for participating in 'Jin Jiyan Azadi' protests

Kurdish activist Reza Resai, who was arrested for participating in the 'Jin Jiyan Azadi' uprising in Iran, was executed. The number of those executed in connection with these protests rose to 10.

It was reported that 35-year-old political prisoner Reza Resai, who was sentenced to death in December for his participation in the uprising that broke out in Iran in September 2023 after the murder of young Kurdish woman Jina Mahsa Amini by the morality police in Tehran, was executed.

Resai was executed in the early hours of 6 August at Kermashah Central Prison. His family was not informed before the execution.

Iranian authorities called the family after the execution and warned against burying Resai's body in the city of Sehne, where his family lives.

Amnesty International warned on 20 December 2023 that Resai, who was arrested on 24 November 2022, was at risk of execution. The Supreme Court had approved Resai's death sentence two weeks ago.

At least 10 people have so far been executed in connection with the ‘Jin Jiyan Azadi’ [Woman, Life, Freedom] uprising. State forces had massacred hundreds of people during the protests.
