The Asrın Law Office thanked hundreds of lawyers who applied to the Turkish Ministry of Justice to pay a visit to the İmralı prison for their solidarity.
350 lawyers from 22 countries applied to the Turkish Ministry of Justice to visit Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners in the İmralı prison. Lawyers announced their move at a press conference held in Brussels, Belgium on Wednesday.
The Asrın Law Office representing Abdullah Öcalan thanked the lawyers for their solidarity, publishing the list of the signatory lawyers on its Twitter account.
“350 lawyers and legal institutions from all European countries to Australia, from South Africa to South Korea, from India to America, Brazil and Japan applied to the Ministry of Justice to visit our clients Mr. Abdullah Öcalan, Mr. Hamili Yıldırım, Mr. Ömer Hayri Konar and Mr. Veysi Aktaş who are kept in an aggravated isolation and have not been heard from for more than 17 months. We would like to thank all our colleagues and institutions who have shown their solidarity with us by criticizing the unlawfulness of the current isolation and the continuous interferences with the right of defence,” the Asrın Law Office wrote.
