Demonstration for Panahi in front of the Council of Europe

A demonstration was staged in front of the Council of Europe demanding the death penalty for Kurdish political prisoner Ramin Hossein Panahi be stopped in Iran.

Kurdish Democratic Society Congress Europe (KCDK-E) constituents, Syriacs Union Europe (ESU), Socialist Refoundation Party (SKYP), Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and the Gorran Movement continue their vigil in Strasbourg, France demanding freedom for Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

On the 5th day of the vigil, activists condemned the Iranian regime and urged Iranian officials to halt the execution of Kurdish political prisoner Ramin Hossein Panahi.

Speeches in German, French and Kurdish called on everyone to go into action in order to halt the execution and ensure the freedom of Panahi.

The activists also submitted a handout to the French Parliament, which said the following; “Kurdish activist Panahi is facing an imminent execution in his homeland, the Islamic Republic of Iran. He was arrested last June for alleged membership in Kurdish Komala organisation. He was accused of taking up arms against the Iranian state and he was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court in January 2018. His execution was scheduled for 3 May but was postponed due to reactions. It is understood that a request for judicial review was rejected by Iranian Supreme Court in late May and the decision was referred to competent authority.”
