Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) deputy Emine Ayna, who has been on indefinite-irreversible hunger strike since 10 November together with Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Aysel Tuðluk, BDP co-chair Gültan Kýþanak and deputies Sýrrý Süreyya Önder, Sabahat Tuncel, Adil Kurt as well as Diyarbakýr mayor Osman Baydemir, spoke to ANF about Prime Minister Erdoðan and his government’s response to the protest by Kurdish political prisoners.
Ayna pointed out that Erdoðan used an “inhuman language” against the prisoners on fast and called on the government to make a choice between either to recognize the rights of Kurdish people and come up with a solution to Turkey’s problems with democracy, freedom and equality or to be overwhelmed by the hunger strikes everywhere.
In his statement at his party group meeting on Tuesday, PM Erdoðan accused BDP executives of “fighting to derive benefits from deaths” and of “never siding with a solution”. “Let them stage hunger strike if they wish to do so”, Erdoðan said, once again manifesting his insistence on a deadlock in the Kurdish issue.
In response to Erdoðan’s statements, BDP deputy Ayna said that; “For months now, the PM is doing nothing but insulting the sections of society he has chosen as his targets. This is the reason why the Kurdish problem cannot be resolved, it is because of the fact that the PM has no projects for the future of this country where he has managed to lay his hands on all power mechanisms since he came to the power.”
