Thirty prisoners in Osmaniye T Type Prison No.2 started a hunger strike on 12 November against abuse and violations of rights.
As the prisoners' demands for an end to arbitrary practices have not yet been met, the prisoners continue their indefinite hunger strike. The prisoners joining the strike are: Mehmet Selim Süer, Mehmet Göz, Sabahattin Karasu, Nevaz Sakçak, Süleyman Saçal, Candan Yen, Zenar Demir, Abdullah Uçar, Kasım Balta, Sedat Karak, Adem Amaç, Mehmet Kazıcı, Mehmet Kılınç, Mikail Pelit, Abdullah Topaloğlu, Mehmet Emin Dal, Recep Yel, Akar İkbal, Veysi Baltaş, Mehmet İpek, Hasan Muhammet İbiş, Yıldırım Kış, Baver Başaran and Halil İbrahim Karataş.
Also in the Türkoğlu T Type Prison in Maraş, four prisoners have been on a hunger strike for a week now. They protest against harassment such as the military roll call. Lawyers say that more prisoners could join the hunger strike.
Selçuk Delibaş of the Human Rights Association (IHD) Maraş branch stated that they will take the demands of prisoners to the Human Rights Commission of the Parliament and to the Ministry of Justice.
