Executions on the rise in Iran in October
Protests against the political, economic and social issues are on the rise in Iran, as well as the number of executions. At least 23 people have been executed in October alone.
Protests have continued for months in Iran against economic and social issues. The shopkeepers, teachers and truck drivers have launched strikes to voice their protest, and executions have also accelerated in this period.
According to opposition sources, at least 23 people have been executed since the beginning of October. One person was executed in the Maragh prison on October 14, 1 in Ferdows prison on the same date, 2 in the Shahrekurd prison on October 15, 2 in the Isfahan prison on October 16 and 1 in the Ilam central prison on October 17.
A total of 33 people were executed in September, as well as 28 in August, 40 in July, 17 in June, 19 in May, 33 in April, 12 in March, 17 in February and 22 in January.
According to opposition sources, at least 544 people were executed in 2017, as well as 553 in 2016 and 966 in 2015.
