The families who are carrying out a justice vigil at the Amed Bar Association for the sick prisoners and other prisoners who are not released despite completing their executions came together outside the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) building to mark the 100th day of their protest vigil. Members of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), the Association for Solidarity with Families Losing Their Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations (MEBYA-DER), the Association for Solidarity with Families of Detainees and Convicted (TUHAY-DER), and the Med Federation of Legal and Solidarity Associations for Families of Detainees and Convicted (MED TUHAD- FED) came to the ATK building to express their support for the families. The police blockaded the area and prevented the representatives of non-governmental organizations from participating in the protest.
'WE DON'T WANT DEATHS IN PRISONS!'
Reşahat Ada, one of the relatives of prisoners, reacted to the police intervention. “Oppression and violence against our children should be halted. They should be released. We do not want to get the death bodies of our children from prisons. We want peace and justice. We are mothers and we are carrying out a justice vigil. We are in great agony,” Ada said and noted that they would meet in front of the courthouse tomorrow to repeat their demand for justice.
“Our children are not released even though they have been in prison for 30 years. Laws are not enforced even though they have been sick for years and have been in prison since the '90s. Enforce the laws. Give our children back to us,” Inci Güler, another prisoner's relative, said.
A third prisoner's relative, Nazime Boltan, reacted to the police intervention against the members of the non-governmental organizations who wanted to join their protest. “Where are justice and laws? We want our children to enjoy their rights. Justice, justice, justice.”
Slogans “Bijî berxwedana zindanan (Long live the prison resistance)” and “Right, law, justice” were chanted following the statement.
