Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan continues to be kept in a regime of total isolation while human rights violations in prisons are being carried out on a daily basis.
Prisoners on 27 November went on hunger strike demanding the end of the isolation imposed on Öcalan as well as the end of the violations of rights in prisons. The hunger strike, which is indefinite and alternate, has entered its 24th day today and is carried out by the fifth group of prisoners.
Zeynep Calıhan, mother of prisoner Aslı Calıhan, who is in the 5th group of hunger strikers, said: "We do not want our children to die, we do not want deaths from prisons. We want the people to be sensitive. We want the people to give voice to our children's voices."
