Four Kurds executed, one environmental activist sentenced to prison in Iran

On Wednesday, when at least 29 people were hanged in Iran, 4 Kurds were also executed and a Kurdish environmental activist was sentenced to prison.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) announced that 4 Kurdish prisoners, Foroud Geravand, Mohammad Gholami, Esmaeil Sharafi, and Shahab Maleki, were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, Alborz Province on Wednesday.

On the same day, Kurdish civil rights activist Hekmat Amiri, known for his work on environmental and social issues, was sentenced to six months of imprisonment and 36 months of suspended imprisonment by Branch One of the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Dehgolan, Kurdistan Province.

The court convicted him on charges of “propaganda against the state” and “collaboration with hostile groups”.

The Norway-based Human Rights Organisation (IHR) announced that at least 29 people were hanged in Iran on Wednesday, 26 of them in mass executions in Karaj.
