HDP: Stop workplace homicides and worker suicides

The HDP issued a statement about occupational murders and worker suicides.

The HDP said in a statement that "occupational murders and worker suicides have increased in recent years due to mobbing, increasing economic crisis and unemployment, habitual poverty and anti-democratic practices."

The HDP continued: "Recently, five workers in different companies on the same construction site (Ataşehir Finance Center) committed suicide, and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security did not make any statement on the subject."

According to research, Turkey ranks 106th among 137 countries in the list of unhappy countries. In occupational homicides, Turkey ranks 3rd in the world. The HDP said: "The insensitivity of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security about work murders and suicides continues, and the government does not take any measures to stop work deaths. In our country, an average of 2000 occupational homicides occur every year. Those responsible for these murders and suicides must be held accountable."

The HdP said: "Occupational safety should be increased in order to prevent deaths. We said that:

- Psychological support should be offered routinely to workers by the ministry at workplaces.

- Occupational safety training should be increased and sanctions should be applied to companies when irregularities are detected.

- In order for the workers to receive a proper return for their labor, their wages must be enough to allow them to live with dignity."
