The hunger strike launched on 27 November by prisoners to demand the end to the isolation imposed upon Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan and the violations in prisons continues on its 63rd day.

The 12th group of prisoners have taken over the hunger strike which has almost reached two months. 

Stating that the isolation in prisons has caused great damage not only to the prisoners, but also to the whole society, MEBYA-DER co-chair Şeyhmus Karadağ said in Amed on Wednesday: "The situation of prisons in a country is the mirror of that country. Violations of rights and crimes against humanity are not limited to prisons. The responsible of the problems are not only the prison administrations. The main responsible for this is the government that runs the country. It is in the interest of the whole country to meet the demands of the prisoners."
