Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) jailed deputy Faysal Sarýyýldýz made a statement to the press through his adviser who visited him at a hospital in Diyarbakýr where he has been held since last Sunday when he ended the hunger strike he had started in Diyarbakýr D Type High Security Prison on 15 November. The hunger strike by Kurdish political prisoners ended three days ago on the 68th day upon the call by jailed Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan.
Sarýyýldýz stated that he together with other prisoners from the same prison are currently receiving intensive serum therapy and facing no critical health problems. BDP deputy noted that they had faced problems in the hospital only on the first day when they were forced to receive treatment in handcuffs but did object to this imposition.
Sarýyýldýz ended extending his thanks and loves to the Kurdish people and everyone who supported prisoners on strike, saying that “The applauses and cheers of our people have been our major medicine during our transfer to hospitals after the end of the strike”.
On the other hand, it has been reported that only one member of families of prisoners will be allowed to pay ten-minutes visits to their relatives at hospitals once a week from today on.
