Six Kurdish political prisoners in East Kurdistan and Iran jails have started three-day hunger strike in solidarity with the prisoners on hunger strike in Turkey and North Kurdistan jails.
Kurdistan Human Rights Network announced last night that six prisoners in Urmia and Tabriz prisons have started three-day hunger strikes last night in solidarity with the prisoners on hunger strike in Turkey and North Kurdistan jails.
The hunger strike is joined by Kurdish political prisoners Saman Nesim, Kemal Ramazan, Ahmed Temuyi, İbrahim İsapur, Yusuf Kake Memi in Urmia prison and Ali Ahmed Süleyman in Tabriz prison.
The statement by the hunger strikers said the following:
"Several Kurdish political prisoners are on hunger strike for 56 days in protest at the Turkish state's fascist policies against the Kurdish people, and their health is deteriorating every passing day. In response to the hunger strike, the Turkish state is, however, increasing its torture against the prisoners instead of meeting their demands. Participants of the 33-day hunger strike we launched in 2015 also faced with a similar treatment because dictatorial regimes and governments have no answer to give other than this."
