A Kurdish prisoner was found dead in his cell in Adana F Type Prison yesterday.

Rahmi Oner who was serving life sentence in Adana Prison was found dead in his cell. The prison administration said Oner committed suicide.

Turkish authorities informed Oner's family last night by phone that their son is dead. Father Enver Oner says he doesn't believe that his son committed suicide and appealed for a detailed investigation.

Oner also appealed to Human Rights Association's Adana branch for legal help.

Rahmi Oner's body was taken to Adana Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy.

Oner was handed to Turkish authorities by Syria for being an alleged member of Kurdistan Workers Party on December 2006.

He was serving his life sentence.
