Lawyer Cibrail Mistefa, a member of the coordination of the Syrian Initiative to Defend the Freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, told ANF that "the imposition of disciplinary penalties against Abdullah Öcalan is a continuation of the international conspiracy."

Stating that Abdullah Öcalan's ideas and philosophy are for all oppressed peoples and are the key to peace and stability, Mistefa emphasized that the collapse of the Soviet Union and the control of capitalist modernity over the world have led to the continuation of war, problems and poverty.

Noting that Abdullah Öcalan's idea is contrary to the idea of capitalist modernity, lawyer Cibrail Mistefa said, "For this reason, the Turkish state has increased the isolation of Leader Öcalan so that lawyers and families cannot meet with him."

Mistefa stated that many organizations, especially the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), have highlighted the rights violations in İmralı Prison where Öcalan is held, adding: "We see that despite all the violations of the Turkish state against Leader Abdullah Öcalan, international silence continues."

"The international community must respect the United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights because Turkey is violating both of them in the case of Abdullah Öcalan and the rights of the Kurdish people," Mistefa said, calling on the international community to take a serious stance in this sense.

"We are in the process of defending the freedom of Leader Abdullah Öcalan," Mistefa concluded: "As the Initiative of Lawyers in North and East Syria, we have collected more than 1,025 signatures and sent them to international organizations."
