Batman sadly known as the 'Suicide city' has once more witnessed a suspect suicide of a woman who consistently suffered violence from her husband. Emine Yüksekbað, 34, mother of three children and married for 13 years, is suspected to have fallen a victim to a murder by her husband. Emine Yüksekbað's family demanded a new investigation, pointing out that the reports of the Prosecution and the Forensic Medicine Institution are shady.
Victim Emine Yüksekbað, who was exposed to violence and insults by her husband all along her marriage, was taken to hospital 40 minutes after being beaten by her husband. Yüksekbað, who was asserted to have hanged herself with a scarf in the bathroom, was precipitately buried after losing her life at the hospital.
Going through a hard marriage due to the pressures of her husband who didn't even allow her visit her family, Emine Yüksekbað left three motherless children behind. Remarking that Emine fell victim to the physical coercion by her husband Metin Yüksekbað, Emine's sister Sadiye Atasever said the followings; "My sister's husband, who hardly allowed her to visit us for seven years after they first married, used to approach my sister with insult and contemptuousness. When I last visited Emine at her home one and a half month ago, she had a bruise on the throat and she told me that her husband had attempted to choke her. Her husband was quite aggressive and prone to violence. They were always having a quarrel. Her neighbors tell that Emine and her husband had continued their quarrels for four days before the event day. They tell that Metin put the children outside at the day of the event and that he, after about 40 minutes, started to scream and cry out that Emine committed a suicide in the bathroom with a scarf. The neighbors, as they tell us, went to Emine's house and saw her lying dead on the ground without any indications on her throat. Even if Metin didn't kill her, he forced her commit a suicide."
Noting that the reports of the Prosecution Office and the Forensic Medicine Institution are incomplete, Atasever told that they once more appealed to the Prosecution and demanded a new detailed inquire into the event as the investigation was made improperly with a single forensic science expert and one pathologist.
Emine Yüksekbað, who has once more brought the suicide issue in Batman to the agenda, fell a victim to violence against women and left behind her three children at the ages of 3, 11 and 13.
