No autopsy for Þerzan Kurt

Because it was accepted his brain death, Þerzan Kurt wasn’t taken to autopsy because his internal organs are still functioning. His heart, liver and kidneys are still functioning and are connected to a machine.

Coming to the hospital to give support to the young student's family, young EMEP (Labour Party) party members walked out in protest, last night, with banners “Þerzan Kurt is immortal” and shouted slogans “No to fascism”. Kurdish young people were also there, shouting “Bijî serok Apo".

ÝHD (Human Rights Association) Izmir Branch Chairperson Nezahat Paþa Bayraktar appealed for calm, saying that similar attacks are provocation. Bayraktar also indicated that they can’t take Kurt’s body as he is still connected to machines and that they will wait in front of the hospital until they take the young boy out of the hospital. Father Kurt also spoke, saying; “We will be waiting until we take our martyr out of here. Keep yourself away from such kind of provocations. We are all feeling the same pain.”

Þerzan Kurt died after a week in a coma. He was one of hundred students to be brutally assaulted by groups of fascists and nationalists youngsters in Mugla.
