Human Rights Association (IHD) released a report on the violations of rights recorded between 23 October and 6 November when mass demonstrations took place in support of the fast by Kurdish political prisoners.
According to the IHD, 46 demonstrations were attacked by police and 617 people were taken into custody in the last 15 days during the meetings and demonstrations in solidarity with prisoners on hunger strike for 59 days.
IHD pointed out that the authoritative attitude of the government is making the current problems grow bigger and added; “The government is giving rise to severe violation of human rights by constantly intervening in demonstrations instead of considering and creating a solution for the fair and legitimate demands of prisoners”.
According to the report, five meetings and demonstrations were denied permission, 46 were intervened, 617 people were taken into custody and among them 69 were arrested and 84 others injured within the mentioned two weeks.
