Şeref Türk, who was imprisoned for 30 years for political reasons, was released from Antep H Type Closed Prison on Friday. After being detained in Muş in 1994, Türk was sentenced to life imprisonment at the State Security Court (DGM) on the charge of "disrupting the unity and integrity of the state". Turk was released after completing his 30-year sentence, i.e. three-quarters of his original sentence.

Along with his family, Emine Kaya, co-chair of the Federation of Legal Solidarity Associations of Detainees and Convict Families (TUHAD-FED), Amed Branch of the Association for Assistance with Detainees' Families (TUAY-DER) and People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Antep executives were waiting to welcome Türk in front of the prison.
