Political prisoners attacked: 40 injured

Prisoners who refused the stand-up roll call last Monday in the Rize Type L Prison were attacked. 40 prisoners are injured.

Reports say 150 political prisoners in the Rize Kalkandere Type L Prison were attacked last Monday because they objected to the stand-up military roll call practice in the prison and didn’t comply with this demand.

Families who spoke about the matter said they wanted their relatives to remain anonymous because they are worried. The families said many prisoners were issued communication bans and so their families are not aware of the situation.

HDP MPs confirmed the attempts regarding the prison, while stating that results have not been achieved.

Prisoners in the Rize Kalkandere Type L Closed Prison told their families in weekly visits that the guards attacked them.
