University student suffering from colon cancer remains in jail

The second hearing of the lawsuit filed against 11 university students, including Devrim Ayık, who is suffering from colon cancer was held in Antalya 10th High Criminal Court. The defendants are facing the accusation of "being member of an illegal organization". Ayık and some arrested students and their lawyers attended the hearing.
Three people who testified against Ayık during the preparatory investigation were connected to the hearing via Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS). The three witnesses said that they testified against Ayık as a result of the pressure and torture of the police and they did not know Ayık.
DECISION
The prosecution requested that Ayık be kept under arrest and that the secret witness "Havuz" be heard.
The court board accepted the request of the prosecution and decided to keep of Devrim Ayık in prison. The hearing was postponed until 2 April.
