The families of sick prisoners and other prisoners who are not released despite having completed their jail time came together for a press release in front of the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) office in Amed province on the 107th day of the Justice Vigil. Bünyamin Şeker, Co-Chair of the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD), and some lawyers supported the families. Some representatives of non-governmental organizations who wanted to participate in the event were blocked by the police who blockaded the ATK office.

'WE ARE EVERYWHERE UNTIL JUSTICE IS SERVED'

“We are mothers for justice. We are here for our children. We have been carrying out our justice vigil for 107 days. I have not seen my child for 4 years. Laws should be enforced. We submit petitions, yet they are turned down by the authorities. You also have children. We want to see our children; we want them to be released. If you do not treat them in prisons, we can do it,” Nazime Boltan, mother of the sick prisoner Civan Boltan, said.

“Prisoners who have completed their jail time should be released. They should be treated. The crackdown against them should be halted. Don't the Presidency and the Ministry of Justice hear our voice? Other prisoners are granted amnesty, but our children are not allowed to enjoy it. We want peace, justice and equality. We want rights, law and justice. From now on, we will visit all institutions. We went to Ankara, but they did not keep their promises there,” Reşahat Ada, another prisoner's relative, said.

“Although they have been in prison for 30 years, they are not released. They are supposed to be released according to the laws. Prisoners who are confined to bed are not released. What kind of state can adopt such persecution? We have waited for our brothers, fathers and children for 30 years. We will continue to be everywhere until justice is served,” Inci Güler, another prisoner's relative, said.
