Prisoners on hunger strike in Tarsus harassed

Abuses are reported by prisoners on hunger strike in Tarsus T Type No.1 Prison.

Hunger strike actions demanding an end to isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan are spreading in prisons.

On 5 January in Tarsus T Type No.1 Prison, the first seven prisoners who went on hunger strike as first group and three more prisoners were forced out of the ward.

The guards entering the wards placed 10 prisoners on hunger strike in cells for 2 and 5 people.

The 12 prisoners are held in such a small place and are suffering more.

Prisoners managed to inform their families of the situation and said the prison administration is putting pressure on the hunger strikers to break the resistance.

The hunger strikers stressed that the administration is refusing to provide basic items, such as salt, sugar and lemon.
