Prisoner released after 32 years in prison

Mehmet Turgay was released after 32 years in prison. He was welcomed by people in Adana.

Mehmet Turgay, who was held in Burdur High Security Prison, was released on Friday morning after 32 years in prison.

Turgay, who was detained in Adana in 1992 and sentenced to life imprisonment by the State Security Court (DGM) for "disrupting the unity and integrity of the state," was welcomed by his relatives, the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) and TUAYDER executives in front of the prison.

Turgay thanked those who welcomed him and said: "Berxwedan jiyan e."

Turgay arrived in the neighborhood of Dağlıoğlu in Seyhan, in the province of Adana, where his family resides. The public gathered in front of Turgay’s house and welcomed him with confetti and fireworks.
